27 Martyrs’ Killer Terrorist Ahmet Kalker Captured in Tunceli

According to a statement released by Tunceli Governorate, Ahmet Kalker, a terrorist who martyred 27 security guards and wounded 35 security guards and 2 civilians in rural Tunceli between 1995 and 2000, was captured alive in a successful operation. Kalker, who was captured in the operation carried out by Tunceli Provincial Gendarmerie Command, had been under surveillance of security forces for a long time as a member of the PKK-KCK terrorist organization. After his capture, Kalker was taken to the courthouse and arrested.

Years of Escape Ended

Tunceli Governor Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu stated that the years-long escape of terrorist Ahmet Kalker has come to an end. Tekbıyıkoğlu emphasized that the capture of Kalker, who was the chief responsible for attacks against security forces in 20 different terror incidents in rural Tunceli between 1995 and 2000, is an important success in the fight against terrorism.

Ahmet Kalker, codenamed M.A., is known as the planner and executor of the attacks between 1995 and 2000 that resulted in the martyrdom of 27 security officers and the injury of 35 security officers and 2 civilians. According to the governorate’s statement, among the terrorist incidents involving Kalker are ambushes and bomb attacks against security forces in rural Tunceli.

Operation Details

Tunceli Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams located Kalker as a result of their meticulous intelligence work and captured the terrorist alive in a successful operation. There was no clash during the operation and Kalker did not offer any resistance to the security forces. The terrorist was taken into custody, interrogated at the Provincial Gendarmerie Command and then referred to the courthouse and arrested.

Tunceli Governor Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu thanked the gendarmerie teams involved in this operation and said, “Our gendarmerie organization has once again shown how determined it is in the fight against terrorism. This operation is a clear indication that the fight against the elements threatening the security in Tunceli and in our country will continue.” He also stated that the operations carried out for the security of the people will continue unabated.

New Developments Against Terrorist Organization Members

Governor Tekbıyıkoğlu announced that in addition to the operation, some members of the terrorist organizations PKK-KCK and YPG were persuaded to surrender. In particular, it was noted that a member of the organization named C.A., who was abroad and wanted for membership in a terrorist organization, was persuaded by the security forces and returned to the country on October 8, 2024 and judicial proceedings were initiated.

It was stated that within the scope of persuasion efforts, ensuring the return of people who joined the organization accelerated the dissolution within the organization and was used as an effective method in the fight against terrorism. The Governorate stated that it is determined to continue both the operational and psychological struggle against members of the terrorist organization.

Success in the Fight against Terrorism

The ongoing fight against terrorism in rural Tunceli has once again demonstrated the determination and success of the security forces with this operation. The capture of high-level terrorists such as Ahmet Kalker is seen as a major step in the fight against PKK-KCK and other terrorist organizations. Security forces continue both intelligence and field operations to neutralize terrorist elements in the region.

In a statement released by the governor’s office, it was emphasized that all measures will continue to be taken for the security of the public and that no compromise will be made in the fight against terrorism. It was stated that security operations in the region will not only be limited to the capture of terrorists, but also the elements providing logistical support to the organization will be identified and neutralized.
