BKM’s highly anticipated new movie, A Song of the Republic, takes the audience to 1930s Turkey and reveals the cultural revolution in the first years of the Republic. For the costumes, 8 workshops worked for 8 weeks to produce a total of 2,500 costumes and 2,000 pairs of shoes. Designed especially for the opera and Sofia Ball scenes, the costumes reflect the elegance of the period in the movie.

Detailed Preparations for Historical Reality
A special work was also carried out for the hats, one of the most striking accessories of the period. While some hats were brought from London, others were obtained from private collectors. For the dress used in the scene where Miti, one of the main characters of the film, dances with Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, 300 meters of organza fabric was used. This special scene will offer viewers a mesmerizing visual feast.

In order to make the daily clothes of the period look realistic, the costumes were individually sanded, colored and faded. In this way, the clothes worn by the characters will reflect the natural texture of the 1930s to the audience.
