Gainers and Losers in Borsa Istanbul: Summary of the Past Week
Borsa Istanbul attracted attention with the sectors and stocks that gained investors between November 11-15. BIST 100 index continued its uptrend, ending the week with a 2.23% increase in value. Investors’ focus on the Fed’s decisions after the US election results and the minimum wage and inflation developments in Turkey were the major headlines affecting the stock market performance.
Banking and Tourism Sectors Stand Out
During the past week, the banking sector provided a significant return to its investors with an increase of 6.36%. Tourism sector, on the other hand, stood out as the highest rising sector of the week with a gain of 6.68%. The industrial index also contributed to the rise with an increase of 0.68%. However, the trade index was the sector that declined the most, losing 2.79%.
Most Profitable Shares of the Week
The highest gaining stock in the BIST 100 index last week was Girişim Elektrik (GESAN), up 15.54%. It was followed by Tekfen Holding (TKFEN) with a 15.25% rise and Emlak Konut (EKGYO) with a gain of 13.24%.
Losers of the Week
Stocks that declined in stock market performance also attracted attention. Adel Kalemcilik (ADEL) fell by 14.81%, followed by Karsan Otomotiv (KARSN) with a loss of 10.91% and Ülker Bisküvi (ULKER) with a decline of 7.84%.
Trading Volume Peaks: Turkish Airlines
During the week, trading volume increased compared to last week and reached 464 billion 613 million TRY. Among the most traded stocks, Turkish Airlines (THYAO) led with a trading volume of 40 billion 961 million TRY. It was followed by Yapı Kredi Bank (YKBNK) with 39 billion 574 million TRY and İşbank (ISCTR) with 32 billion 32 million TRY.
Companies with the Highest Market Capitalization
The total market capitalization of the companies in Borsa Istanbul was calculated as 8 trillion 223 billion 294 million TRY with a slight decline. The companies with the highest market capitalization were Garanti BBVA (GARAN) with 474 billion 600 million TRY, Koç Holding (KCHOL) with 470 billion 916 million TRY and Turkish Airlines (THYAO) with 399 billion 855 million TRY.
