President Erdoğan’s Clear Messages on Salary Increases and the Fight Against Inflation

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the minimum wage and salary increase plans for 2025 in his statements to reporters on the plane after returning from the G20 Leaders Summit. Erdoğan stated that salary increases will be above inflation and emphasized determination in protecting the purchasing power of employees and increasing economic welfare.

Inflation on a Downward Trend
President Erdoğan drew attention to the positive developments in the fight against inflation and said that the Turkish economy has entered a disinflation process. Erdoğan said, “We have entered a period of decreasing inflation since May. Inflation will continue to decrease in 2025 with the effect of monetary policy and the decrease in the budget deficit. We had determined our first year as the year of transition to disinflation and the process is progressing as planned.”

Erdoğan pointed out that price stability will be achieved with the effect of the government’s determined policies and stated that economic growth and maintaining social balance are among the priority targets in this process.

“We Are Protecting Our Employees Against Inflation”
Erdoğan emphasized that the increases to be made in minimum wage, retirement salaries and civil servant salaries in 2025 will be arranged in a way that will protect the purchasing power of employees. Reminding that employees were not crushed by inflation with the 107.5 percent increase made last year, the President stated that this year’s 49 percent increase was also realized above the inflation rate.

“Our principles will not change in the upcoming period. Salary increases will be arranged in a way that will protect the living standards of our employees,” said Erdoğan, assuring citizens.

Economic Policies and Opposition Criticism
President Erdoğan said that Turkey has taken important steps in the last 22 years regarding economic reforms and social aid. “Our government has taken a determined stance in protecting our citizens against inflation. This understanding will continue in the coming years,” he said.

Criticizing the opposition’s economic policies, Erdoğan stated that Turkey had managed to control inflation with its strong financial structure and that this process would continue in 2025. “We have not let any segment of society be crushed by inflation, and we will not let anyone crush us in the future,” he said.

New Steps for Economic Prosperity in 2025
Erdoğan said that monetary policies would be implemented more effectively in 2025 and that economic prosperity would increase with the decrease in the budget deficit. He stated that in addition to the measures to be taken to reduce inflation, every segment of society would be supported with social aid and economic reforms.

At the end of his statements, President Erdoğan stated that Turkey was moving forward with determination towards its economic goals and that they saw increasing the welfare of its citizens as a priority goal in this process.
