AK Party 8th Grand Ordinary Congress Process Starts in Kahramanmaraş
The Justice and Development Party (AK Party) will hold its first provincial congress in Kahramanmaraş today as part of the preparations for the 8th Grand Ordinary Congress. The congress, which will be held with the participation of President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will also be an important step for the process started in the earthquake-affected provinces.
Congress Process and General Preparations
AK Party continues its preparations for the 8th Grand Ordinary Congress without slowing down. Within the scope of the work carried out simultaneously with the 7th Ordinary Congress processes of the Women’s and Youth Branches, district and provincial congresses are being completed.
The party is making preparations for the new period with these congresses, which are described as a process in which “AK Party grows, strengthens and renews its cadres”. The AK Party, which started district congresses on September 3, 2024, has so far completed congresses in 811 districts across Turkey. In this process, district presidents, board members and provincial congress delegates were determined.
First Provincial Congress in Kahramanmaraş
The first of the provincial congresses initiated from the provinces affected by the earthquake upon the instruction of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will be held in Kahramanmaraş. Kahramanmaraş has been selected as the priority province in this process as it is one of the regions affected by the earthquakes on February 6, 2023. After the congress, Erdoğan is also expected to attend the ceremony of handing over houses to earthquake victims organized by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.
Women and Youth Branch Congresses
Women’s and Youth branches continue their preparations for the 7th Ordinary Congress. Youth branches started their district congresses on October 25, 2024 in Mardin’s Nusaybin district and have completed their congresses in approximately 500 districts so far. Provincial congresses are planned to start on December 6-7, 2024.
Work is also underway for the 7th Ordinary Congress of the Women’s Branch. Aiming to complete the district congresses by the end of December, the Women’s Branch organized congresses in 214 districts in this process.
Earthquake Region and Congress Process
The AK Party is paying special attention to the earthquake-affected regions. The provincial congress process, which will start in Kahramanmaraş, aims to send a message of support to the citizens in the region, while also accelerating the reconstruction process. The congresses, which will be held with Erdoğan’s participation, aim to reinforce the spirit of solidarity in the region.
The Road to the Grand Congress
The process leading to the AK Party’s 8th Grand Ordinary Congress will be completed with provincial congresses. In addition to metropolitan cities such as Mersin, Malatya, Aydın, Denizli, Gaziantep, Mardin and Tekirdağ, congresses are planned to be held in 52 different provinces. In this process, all levels of the organization are being renewed and strengthened in preparation for the new period.
New Period Vision
The congresses are of great importance not only for internal party restructuring but also for creating a road map for Turkey’s future political goals. In this process, the AK Party aims to strengthen its organizations and establish a closer relationship with the public.
