In his message to the Stratcom Summit 2024 in Istanbul, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized Turkey’s determination to ensure peace and stability as a strong actor in the international arena. Erdoğan also drew attention to the opportunities and risks presented by digitalization and artificial intelligence technologies and expressed Turkey’s strategic goals in this field.
Peace and Multidimensional Diplomacy
Erdoğan stated that Turkey pursues an entrepreneurial, solution-oriented and humanitarian-oriented foreign policy to establish peace in its region and the world. “From Karabakh to the Balkans, from Syria to Ukraine, we are working to ensure peace and stability in every corner of our geography,” Erdoğan said, emphasizing the importance of Turkey’s responsibilities in the international arena.
In this context, Erdoğan emphasized that Turkey’s foreign policy is not only a political approach, but has turned into a peace strategy supported by humanitarian aid. He said that the role of Turkish media organs in conveying the truth to the world about Israel’s actions in Palestine is a concrete reflection of this strategy.
Turkey Communication Model: A Rights-Based Strategy
President Erdoğan stated that the Turkish Communication Model was shaped with an understanding of peace and justice. “We have created a model that gives voice to the just, not the powerful,” Erdoğan said, adding that this model covers a wide range of fields from economy to arts, technology to education. He emphasized that organizations such as TRT, Anadolu Agency and the Presidency of Communication played a key role in the implementation of this model.
Stating that this model has assumed an important function in bringing the Israeli attacks in Palestine to the world agenda, Erdoğan commemorated the efforts of devoted media workers in spreading the truth.
Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation
Erdoğan touched upon the opportunities offered by digitalization and artificial intelligence as well as the risks they pose. Pointing out that artificial intelligence facilitates the spread of disinformation, Erdoğan emphasized that these technologies should be developed with an understanding that respects human rights and moral values. He stated that Turkey aims to raise young technologists and entrepreneurs in this direction.
“We are implementing new programs for education and technology within the scope of our vision of the Turkish Century and our National Artificial Intelligence Strategy,” Erdoğan said, adding that they have developed a justice and ethics-oriented approach by analyzing the effects of digital transformation on society.
Turkey’s Global Role
Erdoğan stated that Turkey continues its peace and stability-oriented approach not only at the regional level but also on a global scale. “We are sending messages of peace to the whole world from Istanbul, where continents and cultures meet,” Erdoğan said, adding that Turkey has become a pole head in economic, social and diplomatic fields.
