PKK Thaw Deepens: Female Terrorist Surrendered

The unraveling process in the terrorist organization PKK/PYD/YPG continues. As a result of the determined operations and persuasion efforts of the security forces, female terrorist G.Y., who had been operating as a “so-called responsible” in the organization for many years, surrendered in Şanlıurfa. Turkey’s operations in Syria and Iraq have led to the organization’s loss of power and an increase in internal conflicts.

Joint Operation of Security Forces
As a result of the joint work carried out by Şanlıurfa Provincial Gendarmerie Command and the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), it was seen that the dissolution in the internal structure of the terrorist organization accelerated. According to the information received from security sources, G.Y., who joined the PKK in 2008, rose rapidly within the organization and crossed into Iraq via Syria in 2010 and took an active role in the rural cadres.

G.Y., who was one of the so-called leaders of the organization for many years, was directed from Iraq back to Syria and forced people in the region to join the organization. G.Y., who was also found to have played a role in the organization’s assassination plans, put pressure on many civilians in this process.

Persuasion Efforts Are Giving Results
G.Y.’s surrender is seen as a result of Turkey’s successful persuasion efforts. Especially the contacts established with families have become an important factor in the return of those who joined the terrorist organization. Deteriorating living conditions within the terrorist organization, the desperation of the leadership and the intensification of operations in the region have increased the number of terrorists surrendering.

It is learned that G.Y. gave details about the internal conflicts and moral collapse of the organization in his statement. It was stated that the PKK/YPG elements in Syria, in particular, had a narrowed area of action due to the operations and that the loss of confidence had reached an extreme level.

He Forced People to Join the Organization
It was stated that the surrendered terrorist had been pressuring civilians in the region to join the organization, but these pressures were gradually becoming ineffective. The operations of the security forces and the resistance of the people against the organization have seriously weakened the PKK’s propaganda power.

Authorities state that the information provided by surrendered terrorists constitutes an important source for new operations. It is learned that G.Y. stated that the organization’s senior officers were in despair and that the escape from the organization would continue.

Thawing Process Accelerates
Recently, the dissolution process within the PKK/PYD/YPG has accelerated remarkably. In addition to the cross-border operations of the security forces, the disruption of the organization’s financial and logistical support channels is also triggering this disintegration. The organization’s loss of territory, especially in Syria, has greatly weakened its strategic power.

Surrendered terrorists state that the climate of fear in the organization has increased and many are looking for an opportunity to escape. Security sources emphasize that this process will continue and that the terrorist organization has completely collapsed.

Conclusion: Decisive Steps in the Fight against Terrorism
Turkey’s counter-terrorism operations and persuasion efforts are accelerating the dissolution of the PKK. Thanks to the support of the public and the operations of the security forces, the organization is experiencing the weakest period in its history.
