Iskenderun Beach Project Begins: Modern and Environmentalist Arrangement is Coming

The groundbreaking ceremony for the project will begin with an event at 14.30.

Reorganization will be made on the beach
The damages on the Iskenderun coast after the major earthquakes in Hatay will be repaired with the project. The coastline, which collapsed by about 80 centimeters in the earthquake, was first subjected to safety measures and fortification works. Breakwaters were built with the support of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, and then the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change decided to implement a comprehensive project.

What is Included in the Project?
According to the statements of Minister Murat Kurum, the project will cover 3.2 kilometers of coastline. By preserving the natural texture, 26 separate social reinforcement areas will be built where citizens can have a pleasant time along the coast. The coast will be transformed into a modern living space with walking paths, bicycle tracks, children’s playgrounds and recreation areas.

Longed For Beaches Are Returning
Minister Kurum stated that the project will not only be an arrangement, but also a great innovation that enables the public to meet the sea. In his statement on social media, he said, “Iskenderunlu people will regain the beaches they miss. We combine the sea with the coastline in the safest, most environmentally friendly and comfortable way.”

Emphasis on Safe Construction After Earthquake
Considering the ground changes in the region after the earthquakes, the waterfront project has been designed at the highest level in terms of safety. By increasing the earthquake resistance of the buildings, protection will be provided against similar events in the future. The infrastructure of the region will also be strengthened against floods and possible natural disasters.

Field Inspections by Minister Kurum
Minister Kurum made inspections at construction sites in Kırıkhan, Antakya and İskenderun within the scope of his visit to Hatay. Evaluating the details of the project on site, the Minister emphasized that the works will be completed quickly. He added that with the coastal arrangement, the people of the region will have large areas for social and cultural activities.

Will be Enriched with Social Facilities
The project prioritized not only physical arrangements but also environmental harmony and social living spaces. Sports areas, walking paths and playgrounds were designed for citizens. Green areas, resting points and outdoor activity areas were also included in the project.

Contribution to the Economy
Ministry officials stated that the project will also contribute greatly to the region in terms of tourism. The renewed coastline will both improve the quality of life of local people and attract tourists. With the completion of the project, the business potential of the tradesmen in the region is expected to increase.

Countdown Started for the Ceremony
