November 10th Commemoration in Tekin Village: With Respect and Gratitude to Atatürk

On November 10, 2024, the 85th anniversary of the departure of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, a meaningful ceremony was held in Tekin Village of Germencik district of Aydın. In the ceremony held in front of the bust of Atatürk in the village square, Tekin Village neighborhood head Hüsniye Adıgüzel, as well as the head of the excavation of the ancient city of Magnesia Assoc. Prof. Dr. Görkem Kökdemir, anthropologist Prof. Dr. Ayla Sevim Erol and archaeogeneticist Prof. Dr. Aylin Köseler were among the participants.

Meaningful Messages and Loyalty to Atatürk
The ceremony started with a moment of silence and the National Anthem. Neighborhood head Hüsniye Adıgüzel emphasized the importance of protecting Atatürk’s principles and reforms in her speech. Adıgüzel said, “By gathering here today, we remember the values that Atatürk bequeathed to us and reiterate our responsibility to carry them into the future. We commemorate our Great Leader with respect, gratitude and longing.”

Magnesia Excavation Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Görkem Kökdemir drew attention to history in his speech and said, “History and culture are together in these lands. We understand the importance Atatürk gave to our history once again here today. We will continue to progress in science, art and culture by following in his footsteps.”

Meeting in a Historical Environment
The ceremony, which was attended by the excavation team of the Ancient City of Magnesia and the residents of Tekin Village, underlined the importance Atatürk attached to history, culture and science. Archaeogeneticist Prof. Dr. Aylin Köseler and anthropologist Prof. Dr. Ayla Sevim Erol also contributed to the ceremony with their speeches. Both scientists emphasized how Atatürk’s emphasis on science laid the foundations of modern Turkey.

Commemoration and Awareness
At the ceremony, it was stated that Atatürk was not only a leader, but also a visionary man of science and culture, who enlightened our nation with his revolutions and legacy. Participants expressed that they will continue to work for a modern and strong Turkey by following Atatürk’s footsteps.

The ceremony ended with the laying of a wreath on Atatürk’s bust and prayers in the village square. Participants shared the happiness of spending a meaningful day together and talked about Atatürk’s legacy after the ceremony.
