AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik’s Harsh Response to Özgür Özel: “Political Ignorance and Disrespect”
AK Party Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik reacted harshly to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel’s statements against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Describing Özel’s remarks as “political ignorance and disrespect”, Çelik said that the CHP leader resorted to politics of lies and slander.
“CHP Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel’s statements against our President are political ignorance and disrespect,” Ömer Çelik said on social media. Increasing the dose of his criticism, Çelik attributed Özel’s criticisms to the CHP’s political mistakes in the past. “If Mr. Özel wants to criticize ‘dictatorship’ and ‘putschism’, he should come to terms with the ‘political record’ of his party, which has stood behind every coup against the nation since 1960,” he said.
Qualification Criticism to Özel
Ömer Çelik described Özgür Özel’s attacks on President Erdoğan as an attempt to cover up the leadership debates within his own party. “Mr. Özel attacks our President and resorts to the politics of lies and slander in order to change the agenda every time his capacity and abilities as general chairman are questioned by his own party members,” Çelik said, implying that the debates within the CHP have put Özel in a difficult situation.
Çelik asked Özel to focus on the leadership problems within the CHP and give up the “politics of lies” against President Erdoğan. “Instead of politics of lies and slander against our party and our President, Mr. Özel should concentrate on responding to his leadership abilities, which are being questioned by many of his colleagues within the CHP,” he said, emphasizing Özel’s trust problem within his own party.
Criticism for Call for Unity and Solidarity
Referring to Özgür Özel’s criticism of President Erdoğan’s vision of the “Century of Turkey”, Çelik said, “Mr. Özel criticizes our President’s call for unity and solidarity. However, we do not expect a person who cannot achieve unity and solidarity even within his own party to understand this call.” Çelik defended the road map drawn by President Erdoğan for the future of the country, claiming that the CHP is struggling with internal fights.
“Century of Turkey” Target
The AK Party Spokesperson emphasized the “Century of Turkey” targets set by President Erdoğan and said, “We are moving forward with determination towards the Century of Turkey targets pointed out by our President. We leave those who do not have a road map alone with their internal fights,” he said. Çelik stated that the work done for Turkey’s future is the strongest response to the politics of lies and slander.
Ömer Çelik continued his criticism of the CHP leader and said, “While our President is working for a stronger Turkey in unity and solidarity, we will continue to explain this great vision that Özgür Özel is incapable of understanding.” Çelik’s statements show that the AK Party will continue to defend its future goals and take a tough stance against the CHP’s criticism.
