Lifeless Body of 8-Year-Old Narin Who Went Missing in Diyarbakır Found
The body of 8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır on August 21, was found after days of searching. The searches, which were initiated upon the application of Narin’s family after she went missing, continued for 19 days. During the searches conducted near Eğertutmaz Creek, the lifeless body of the little girl was found hidden in a sack by the creek by gendarmerie teams. Narin’s uncle S.G. was arrested in connection with the incident.
Extensive Search Efforts
Security forces, AFAD and gendarmerie teams mobilized after Narin went missing. Sensitive-nosed tracking dogs, underground and underwater imaging devices were used in the search efforts. Narin’s lifeless body was found as a result of the scans conducted in a wide area of 55 square kilometers.
Narin’s body was found hidden in a sack with stones in the Eğertutmaz Stream, close to the neighborhood where she disappeared. Initial investigations revealed that the little girl was put in a sack after being killed and left on the edge of the stream. After the investigations at the scene were completed, Narin’s body was taken to the Diyarbakır Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy.
Investigation Deepens
The investigation into Narin’s death is being meticulously carried out by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Since the first day of the incident, gendarmerie, security and AFAD teams have made great efforts to uncover the truth behind the disappearance. Diyarbakır Governor Murat Zorluoğlu stated that security units and judicial authorities are meticulously addressing the incident.
Governor Zorluoğlu made the following statements at the press conference: “Our gendarmerie teams, AFAD personnel and security forces continued their search efforts with great devotion. Unfortunately, the lifeless body of our daughter Narin has been found. According to the initial investigations, our daughter was carried to the edge of the stream after she was killed. The investigation into the incident is ongoing and the necessary procedures will be carried out regarding the suspects.”
Uncle Arrested
In the investigation launched regarding Narin’s disappearance, the girl’s uncle S.G. was arrested before the incident. The investigations conducted based on S.G’s statement raised the suspicion that there may be a family issue behind the incident. The initial investigations conducted at the scene strengthened these suspicions as Narin was found hidden in a sack. It was reported that the investigation into the incident was deepening and that other suspects were continuing to be questioned.
Statements from Authorities
Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya stated on his social media account regarding Narin’s death that the incident caused deep sorrow. Yerlikaya made the following statements: “Unfortunately, the lifeless body of our daughter Narin, who went missing in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır, was found by our gendarmerie teams. I pray to God for our little girl’s mercy. May she rest in peace, and may our condolences.”
Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç emphasized in his statement that those who caused Narin’s death will be held accountable to justice. Minister Tunç stated that the investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Public Prosecutor’s Office is being carried out meticulously and multi-faceted. Stating that “Those responsible for the death of our daughter Narin will be held accountable to justice,” Tunç stated that the incident is being investigated from every aspect.
Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş also stated in his statement that they will be following the process so that those responsible receive the most severe punishment. Minister Göktaş said, “The lifeless body of our daughter Narin has been found. Our condolences. As the Ministry, we will personally follow the process so that those responsible receive the most severe punishment.”
Security Measures in the Region
The area where the incident took place has become an area where search efforts are concentrated. Security forces have taken control of the entrances and exits to the Tavşantepe Neighborhood where Narin disappeared. In the searches conducted especially around Eğertutmaz Creek, unmanned aerial vehicles were also used to scan the area.
While the locals were also shocked by the incident, the disappearance of the little girl and the sad news that followed deeply saddened the residents of the neighborhood. Security forces continue to investigate all suspicious situations in the neighborhood.
